Politcal Cartoon #2

So, here's to blog post #2. First of all, if you didn't get this, recently there has been a big scam going on over the left over Senate seat due to Obama becoming President-Elect. So, Mr. Blagojevich, being the clever man he was, thought he'd sell Obama's old seat, and see what he could get out of it. Well, what he didn't know was that he was already being investigated....fool. So, in the middle of all this scandal, the FBI "wired" him, and caught him in the act. So last week, the FBI drags him out of his house. Embarrassing, right? Now they're looking to track down all those people who were suspected of having bid on the seat. Jessie Jackson Jr.? Hint. Hint.
So in this post, you see Mr. B, being dragged away by the FBI, and a big chair labeled Obama's senate seat, with a for sale sign on it. Mr. B is commenting that he shouldn't be in that much trouble, "it's not like I posted it on Ebay."
Basically, this is what our Government has come to. Lets hope it can only go up from here.

Blog- Political Cartoon #1

So, as we are amidst the blog portion of our studies, once again, here we go. This is a political cartoon i found online (PS-full credit to the scribbly name in the left). In this cartoon, you see a man trying to be expressive. We can gather that he is Barak Obama from the pin on his chest saying OBABA '08. You also see donkey, usually symbolizing Democrats. This donkey in particular look like he has overdosed, or should be in a loony-bin. He is holding a piece of paper, and from his caption, we can assume it is a list of Obama's record. He says that it is, "practically spotless," which is correct because the paper only has one item on it, 2008 Keynote. The donkey also mentions Obama's charisma.
All in all, i felt this cartoon was mocking the people who were, just like the donkey, voting/supporting Obama. It explains that, yes, he may be a good speaker, and yes, he may be able to "move" a crowd, but what has he ACTUALLY done for country? His record isn't too impressive....

Campaigning-blog3

Once again at HQ. incase i forgot to mention that's Head Qarters. did the shift to call Colorado, 6-9, so it was after VA polls had closed. i guess theres a time change or somehting....

They were all nice calls again, most had already voted, which was pointless, and a lot were just too lazy to get their fat ass's off a chair and vote for our next president.

i hope when their kids ask them about this election (since it's history) they're honest and admitt they had nothing to do with it. Maybe then they'll thnk back and say, "hey, i had a chance to be a part of something great, but i was too lazy to press pause on my Tivo, and watch Grey's Anatomy AFTER i voted" ......that will be the day. :)

Campaigning-blog2

Worked at HQ a few weeks ago. 6-9 shift, it was kinda scary. I'm used to doing it at home, where no one hears me. But, having to do it in front of a bunch of professionals was horrible. luckily they were all VERY nice. They had food and candy and water and bumper stickers, it was nice. The only part i didn't like was having to campaign for Gilmore at the same time, people kept asking me about his standings an policies, but i felt bad saying idk. w.e. it's over now. They'll get over it. :) once again very nice people to chat with, except for one. I'd write what she said, but I'm pretty sure Geek Squad would try and censor me for some reason. .. . hahaa.

Campaigning-blog1

So.... a few weeks ago I did some campaign work. Nothing special. I was behind on my hours and still hadn't contacted anyone, so I went straight to the website. I made an account, which I always regret once that first peice of mail comes and the rest start clogging my inbox. ughh....(sigh). So after that, i checked out the site and found the volunteer page. So i knew i wanted to do the phone calls, since i love debating with people and disturbing them while they're at the dinner table. So i got my first sheet of names and started calling....went through them in about 2 hours and it went well. They all were suprisingly nice. Almost no one hung up on me. I even got an occasional chatty one and basically had to tell the poor woman she was wasting my daytime minutes (ahaha. jk. free nights and weekends :) ) but anyways....hopefully tomorrow i'll get a live one.

WEEK 5-Swing States

Florida-27
North Carolina-15
Nevada-5
Missouri-11
Ohio-20
Indiana-11

All these states are still a tossup, Which means they are neither leaning towards Obama nor McCain. So as of now, both candidates are fighting to get those last important votes, Florida and Ohio being the most vital. In the most previous election, all of them voted republican,

Ohio and Florida:
Ohio hasn't voted Democratic since 1996, and has mostly Republicans in office...but will this be enough to hold them to the Right Side?
Florida also hasn't voted Democratic since '96, but just barely. They are also leading in Republicans in office. Recent polls suggesting them leaning right.

I think they'll both end up Republican, or at least, my fingers are crossed... :)

WEEK 5-CURRENT EVENT

While we all rejoice as the gas process continue to lift our spirits, other’s pull at their hair in agony. These people are the car dealers. Before the price of gas dropped under $100 a barrel, we were all gung ho to do the whole, electric car and hybrid idea. But now companies are terrified the demand will drop now that we’re back to where we used to be. Will the world forget about Global Warming, or the Ozone layer? Will we get so caught up in our relief of cost, that we will actually raise the demand and once again the price of gas?
I don’t really know for sure, but if it does, will we all learn out lesson. Are we so diluted that we have no common sense? The car companies will be sure to be pushing this idea, for fear of loss of popularity.
Another thought, will the economy effect our gas prices more than we thought. Yes, they’ve lowered, but will it prevent them from soaring again? Or will it keep us distracted with the cost of food and the taxes were sure to be pounded with soon enough?

WEEK 4-POLLS

Recently the polls have been pretty similar. No big errors anywhere. They all agree that in most states Obama is leading McCain by a few points or more. This factor leaves us still frozen as to whether or not it will stay like that to the end. Such as Minnesota, the recent polls say McCain 41 Obama 52, which is quite a lead (http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/31251714.html?elr=KArks8c7PaP3E77K_3c::D3aDhUec7PaP3E77K_0c::D3aDhUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU). Wile in others such as the Senate polls while have Obama leading 59 to 41. (http://www.electoral-vote.com/)

Although some think these polls are inaccurate, most of them leave us with a pretty accurate assumption of the leader. They help us see how certain party issues/platforms cann affect how we vote. This also gives us an idea of the most important issues in out nation.

They predict what we can only guess the world thinks.

WEEK 4- CURRENT EVENT

As most of us have been facing the consequences of the Stock Market crashing, nearly all of us have felt it in our pockets. Our wallets seem thinner, and so we wait, hoping for that glimmer of hope, the silver lining around the dark and gloomy cloud hovering above us.

We got our wish. On Wednesday October 15, 2008 the US rejoiced as we awoke to the prospect of having a full tank of gas. Yes my friends, we can finally fill up all the way with out worrying about breaking that $70 line.

As most of us experienced, gas prices have been steadily dropping. But this morning, they took a dive in our favor. With the cost of living so high due to the economy, the oil companies (mainly OPEC) have lost lots of business as Americans tightened their belts in order to make this month’s rent. And we finally got to them! The price of a barrel of oil dropped below $75, the lowest it’s been in 14 months. We got to reap the benefits the next morning when gas prices were the closest they have been to $3 in forever.

So now that we have our oil back, will food be next? I’m not sure, but I know we all hope so.

WEEK 3-Local Issues

So by now we all know Virginia is officially divided. We've never really been this equal towards both sides before. So, we're being mentioned a lot in the news. But this Presidential Election isn't the only election we're a toss-up for.

The Senate seat in Virginia is up for grabs once again. And although we would gladly nominate John Warned for another term, his lack of communication with us is causing chaos. A Republican, Mr.Warner is still considering running for his sixth term. Although sources tell us he's leaning in favor of running, we still can't be sure. And it is that lack of confidence that has all the other candidates lining up to replace him......

Introducing:
Republican George Allen, former Governor and Senate, he was recently crushed by a loss to Webb last month. Allen is currently trying to rebuild his ego and get it together enough to run.

Republican Jim Gilmore, former Governor and chairman of the RNC, Gilmore seems to be more interested in being Governor than Senate. This could hurt his chances..

Democrat and former Governor Mark Warner is in it again. He's already been deemed a front runner, but if J. Warner runs again, does he stand a chance? Well see...

I would name more Democrats, but really no one else stands a chance.

WEEK 2-Current Event

So this week a lot happened.

Most important, the bail-out-bill. Should we let the President take a risk with our money, and send us deeper into debt? Or, should we try and find a way around it?

I was not shocked to see that Senate denied the President's request for a $700 Billion bail out plan. Although it had a lot of thought put into it, especially about how the money would be divided, it was just too much money to take that kind of a risk on.

Some say that the answer was going to be "no" all along. Other's tend to disagree. Recently Republicans have claimed that a speech given by Nancy Pelosi may have lost them some votes. 12 to be exact. Wheter or not that's true, that just goes to show how on edge people are about this bill already.

And finally the big fall. What is the failure of this bill doing to Wall Street already? Well just as quickly as it was denied, Dow Jones fell a whopping 777 points. Thats the most it has ever fallen in one day. EVER. So if we ever had doubts about how this bill would effect us, here's your answer.

Untill we meet again....

WEEK 2-Issues

In my opinion, the most important national issue this election is the economy. As all of you know we are severely in debt, and getting worse daily. Besides the suggestion of Bush's 700 billion dollar bail-out, there is a lot going on. The war has drained us, the stock market is plummeting, and most of the world will be struggling to pay their bills for the next few months. AIG, Lehman Brother, Fanny Mae, and Freddie Mac are all going bankrupt. Bush plans on bailing out AIG, and using our governments money to do it. wether or not this should be done is still bouncing off of different sides in my brain. Go into debt? Let AIG fail? Go into debt? Let AIG fail? Will either option even affect me? I'm not completely sure, but the odds are yes. So, i think I'll leave it up to mr.w to decide for me.

One big local issue that concerns me is transportation. Here in VA especiall, our transportation is lacking. We have a Metro rail that needs to be funded in order to reach Dulles, and funding is a big complication. Should they raise tolls, fund commercial businesses, take it from the government? We have no idea. Our goal is to be earth friendly, but if we cant use the metro, shouldn't we be allowed to drive? Also, our roads. They are in dire need of some T.L.C., with cracks and wat faded lines everywhere. We need a plan...

Up to this point, the canidates have been succesful in the debates. Both have appeared equally to me. When Obama would appear stronger in one light, McCain would dominate in another. So far it is still tied, although i would like the think that McCain is leading, he gets kudos for holding his own. When McCain would argue something, Obama would agree with the majority of them, seems to me like somebody cant decide on his own. And another point that irked me was although SENATOR Obama was accurately identified, he rudely refused to call McCain anything but John. Show some respect for your elders :).

So far the media has been overwhelmingly strong in this debate. They appear so starved for anything, that they're willing to broadcast exactly that, anything. With the confusing ads from Obama about Joe Biden, and the less stressful ads, were torn. But thankfully for SNL, everyone has a fair opinion......i guess.

Until next time,
Adieu

WEEK 1 - My Intro

Because this is my first blog, I feel the need to let everyone know where I stand. If you hadn't noticed from my blog name, I am a Republican. And I'm damn proud of it. I am generally very conservative, but I do make exceptions. I am absolutely against abortion. I don't think there's anything worse in life, than to take a life, especially one of an unborn child. It's just not right in my opinion, to end a life before you even give it a chance. I support our 43rd President George W. Bush and I support our troops out there dying for us everyday. I will be voting for McCain and Palin this election, I would not be caught dead voting for Obama. I feel McCain has the most experience hands down and is going to improve our country while keeping the people happy. He wants to remain in Iraq until their new government it stable which is the best thing we could do right now. And he plans to cut taxes to improve the economy, and let us keep our money like we should. He understands were suffering right now and promised to veto and pork barrel spending amendment that crossed his desk. I was surprised that he chose a woman as his VP candidate, however i believe she will do a great job. And it's not because I'm a woman, it's because she has a realistic view of the typical American life, and like all normal Americans, her family has problems too. That's all the time I can spend on this now, because life's too short to be a democrat.
